Who's going to be big for 2011?

2010 was a big year for UK Urban artists.  It seems that artists such as Tinie Tempah, Chipmunk, N-Dubz and Roll Deep were all flying the urban flag for UK music.  Whether it's Funky, Grime or UK Hip-Hop, call it what you will, certain individual's have been breaking through to deliver a high standard of Urban genre music within the mainstream.  One of the names that have been repeatedly mentioned as the next big thing...sound of 2011...' is Jessie J.  But what do you readers think?  Who do you think deserves the recognition?  Who or what is your sound/artist of 2011 so far.  Let Urban Voice UK know what you, the reader, the fan, thinks by posting below.

Skepta feat. Shorty - All Over the House

In the words of JME, Skepta's younger brother, well, well, well...

Ok, so friends were telling me 'you've gotta see Skepta's new video, OMG, it's like a porno'.  'Well' I thought, 'I don't think so, this is Skepta we're talking about, he wouldn't do something like that'.  I thought maybe people are being a bit too sensitive.  After all Rihanna's S&M video caused so much controversy and when I saw it I thought, 'what's all the hype about?! - This ain't nothing new!'  So, I went in with an open mind thinking hmmm, I'm sure it's not that bad, people are just hyping up the video... then I saw the video.

The video starts of with Skepta sitting by a window in the corner - nothing too offensive.  Then comes on the couple (a white chick and black dude), ok, still not offended.  Lady Gaga shows more flesh going to the supermarket.  Then come off the clothes, hmmmm, ok, now i start to get it, Skepta's created a porno!!!!

Without going into all the details the couple recreate some sexually graphic scenes.  The funny thing is Skepta's just sitting by the window throughout the video like nothing's happening.  As a woman, personally, the video was a bit hard to watch but that's just me and I say if you don't like it, don't watch it.  Simple.

As they say any publicity is good publicity.  No matter what people think of the video Skepta has managed to create hype and interest.  Whatever you feel about the video whether it's disgust, anger, repulsion, or laughter, jokes, turned on (or off), Skepta has created this video to shock.

If you take away the video the song is just a song and nothing too out of the ordinary.  For those with a weak stomach, maybe just try listening to the song as it's not that bad.

Check out the song, I'll leave you to find the video for yourself:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puHWDe77wk4

Ghetts - Who's on the Panel Review

Urban Voice UK has reviewed the controversial latest track by Ghetts, Who's on the Panel.  Check it out under the reviews tab.
I felt it was appropriate for this track to be the first review as it closely relates to what Urban Voice UK is about.  It's an independent unbiased view aimed at representing talented UK Urban artists who do not get the recognition they deserve within the UK mainstream music industry.
